Using the Shade App

Use the Shade app to connect your wallet, send funds, and use shielded features. Track your activity in the Blockscout explorer (web view).

ZK note: Shade confirms results with ZK-verified settlement, so explorers typically show status + proof-level activity, not private execution details.

Getting started

  1. Open the Shade app. Open the Shade app in your browser.

  2. Connect your wallet. Connect your wallet (MetaMask or the provided Chrome extension).

  3. Switch network. If asked, approve switching to the Shade network in your wallet.

  4. Fund your wallet. Make sure your wallet has some ETH on Shade for fees.

  5. Choose an action. Choose an action in the app (send, deposit, withdraw, etc.) and confirm the prompts.

What to expect

Transactions first show as ‘Pending/Submitted,’ then as ‘Confirmed/Safe.’ Final confirmations may take a bit longer; you can always refresh the app or explorer to see the latest status. Fees are small and paid in ETH on Shade.

Chrome extension (optional)

Install the extension, create or import an account, and unlock it. When the app requests approval, the extension will pop up—review and confirm. You can view your recent activity inside the extension or in Blockscout.

Checking activity

  • In the app: look at your recent transactions or balances.

  • In the explorer (Blockscout): paste your address or transaction hash to see status and details.

Common issues

Can’t connect the wallet

Make sure the wallet/extension is unlocked and you accept the “switch network” prompt.

Not enough funds

Add a bit of ETH on Shade to cover the fee, then retry.

Transaction seems slow

Wait a moment and refresh the app or explorer to see the updated status.
